Out Here in the Fields is a series of three works on paper. Each work is titled after a song by the British band The Who:
Who Are You? , Won’t Get Fooled Again, I Can See For Miles
Each of these songs feature as opening credit music within the CSI: Crime Scene Investigation franchise.
In Zipped Up Blues, 2022, fictional characters such as Oor Wullie and Kermit the Frog became recurring motifs in either imagery or in oral recollections. This series of three works on paper incorporates photographs taken by my father in 1988/89 with the exception of Who Are You?, where the central image is a portrait of my father that I have taken at his home. Each photograph is digitally laid on top of scanned graph paper then hand-colored using wax pastels.
CSI: Crime Scene Investigation became a show we watched regularly together and its inclusion in the titling of these works along with the inclusion of Kermit in every image, feeds into my interest in the projection of media and popular culture in one's own life narrative.
